31 Days with Ding and Doy (#31DDD)

You are probably wondering if you’ve logged onto the wrong blog. Nope! You are still at Foodie and the Beatz headquarters but for the next 31 days I will add a new element to each of my posts thanks to a suggestion from my partner in crime, food, dance and random nicknames – Ding.

 

First the origins of Ding and Doy

See that picture of us above? Those were days when Ding and Doy were cubicle mates, yelling at each other about what was for lunch and whether or not it was coffee time, or extolling the virtues of Boyz II Men. (Don’t hate)  I miss very little about that cubicle but I’ll tell you I do miss my Ding! One day I brought in a container of my chocolate crack to the office and quickly signed it “Enjoy, DOY.” Doy in my eyes stood for Diva of Yum, my old blogging name and my current Twitter handle (Follow me!) But no, of course, that girl above, picked up my beautiful note, pursed her lips, gave it a skeptical sideward glance and wondered out loud: “Who’s Doy?”

 

And just like that Doy was born. Enraged (not really), I vowed to give her an equally atrocious nickname and within 24 hours Ding was introduced to the world. Now you have the history of Ding and Doy. (There will be a test tomorrow.)

Ding and I are partnering in a 31 day challenge to jumpstart our writing, start sharing with others online and to just be cool and do something different. For the next  31 days we will be blogging, tweeting, and picture-taking in response to 31 different questions that we made up and chose in random last night. The list is a good one and fun too! You won’t get bored with those two hooligans you see there.

 

The goal is not to be the best or the most inventive. The goal, in my eyes, is to get people to share thoughts, stories and ideas. Also, I think we could all use more time to write! Right?

 

Help us fight aliens. (not really. ok, maybe.)

We don’t know where this project will take us but we really, really hope that you’ll join us in the challenge to get creative,  share, think and inspire. We don’t have real aliens to fight but if you did see an alien wouldn’t you want to detract it from taking you to that alternate universe by telling it a good story?

 

Everyday we will be posting questions for you to answer. You can get the questions from this blog or on Twitter. Be sure to follow @adr512 and @divaofyum aka Ding and Doy and use the hashtag #31DDD.

 

You can choose any creative way to share your answer. You can post it on your status on Facebook, post it to your own blog, answer it in 140 characters or less on Twitter or just comment on one or all of the posts you read here on (www.foodieandthebeats.wordpress.com ) or on Ding’s blog ( www.adr512.tumblr.com).
